Network Engineers Our client was established in May 2003 as the first licensed ISP in Afghanistan. Starting with dial up and moving swiftly into wireless broadband services our client has quickly established itself as the leading ISP and WISP in Afghanistan. Their operation has grown continuously and our client is now seeking additional Network Engineers for their Head Office in Kabul. They are now carrying over 30 Mbps on their networks, with a presence in most major cities and plans to roll out still further. They offer services on 6 different satellites and are the only ISP with internet services available through wireless, VSAT, dial-up and CDMA. Their service provision has expanded into new technologies such as Voice over IP telephony and WiMAX. Network Engineers are key to the success of the business and you will be using the following equipment and systems: Routing major protocols including VoIP, Use of Cisco and Mikrotik routers, Layer two and three Switching, Network Architecture, Bandwidth Shaping, SMTP and POP3 protocols, Microwave technologies including WiMax, ________________________________________________________________________ Knowledge and Skills: Our client will consider varying levels of skills and knowledge from newly graduated with a Degree in IT or experienced Network Engineers. Candidates should have extensive knowledge of TCP/IP and some of the following skills: Routing major protocols including VoIP, Use of Cisco and Mikrotik routers, Layer two and three Switching, Network Architecture, Bandwidth Shaping, SMTP and POP3 protocols, Microwave technologies including WiMax. In addition you should have knowledge of major internet services DNS etc, a working knowledge of Windows 2003 Server. Knowledge of Linux will be an advantage and also satellite connectivity. You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines. Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions. You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment. Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence. This is an outstanding challenge for accomplished or aspiring Network Engineers looking for something different. Contracts will be issued for 12 months on a renewable basis. Starting salary will be dependant upon the candidates skill set and experience. The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, local transport, and meals are provided free. In addition you will be able to call family and friends and also use the internet for e-mails etc. Ex-Patriate employees will receive 30 days annual leave in the first year and thereafter 42 days annual leave per year. In the first year our client provides one mid term flight back to your home base and thereafter two flights mid term. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
