| Pashto Linguist - Translator (US or NATO clearance) Overview: RONCO Consulting Corporation has immediate and ongoing opportunities for experienced linguists to support overseas operations in Afghanistan. Provide official translation as part of an investigative security vetting program, including translation during vetting interviews and follow up translation of correspondence, technical documents and other documentation and reports on a daily basis. Responsibilities: * Two to three years interpreting and translation experience required * Fluency in English required (spoken, written, translation, briefing) * Must possess Pashto as your primary language. Dari desired as a second language. * Other secondary languages a plus. *Self reliant and able to work independently or as a part of a multi-cultural team *Cultural awareness, sensitivity and responsiveness to local environments * Computer literate; proficient with MS Office. Qualifications: * Experience working in developing countries in remote locations, austere living conditions, and challenging environments * Must be able to deploy overseas for extended periods * Exposure to terminology in related subject matter * Prior work experience in an international security or peacekeeping organization desired •Possess US secret or NATO clearance Working Conditions / Location: • Kandahar Air Base; secure military flights to and from Dubai; no need to go off the installation • 8 hour work day, 6 days a week. Start 8 AM done by 5 AM (4:30 most days) normally 1 and 1/2 hours for lunch. • 36 days paid leave + paid travel days (2 home leave trips every approx. 110 - 120 days + one demob trip (others companies give leave after 6 months in country, or at the end of 12 months) | |
